Overview

University of Kent provides students with an environment that is both intellectually and personally stimulating. Set in over 300 acres of parkland just over a mile away from the center of Canterbury, it is able to offer a beautiful campus with views overlooking the stunning Canterbury Cathedral.

The Canterbury campus also boasts the Gulbenkian Cinema and Theatre (a movie theater and outstanding regional theater which is used for both student and professional productions), sports facilities, banks, shops, bars, restaurants, cafes, a medical center, counseling support, and one of the most active student unions in the country. The University of Kent is voted one of the top universities in the UK in national student satisfaction surveys.

Academic Highlights

The University of Kent has a range of subjects available to study abroad students with course offerings primarily selected from the Faculties (Colleges) of Humanities and Social Sciences. The most popular departments include English Literature, Social Policy, Psychology, Philosophy, Drama, Politics, and History.

Many science classes are also available to study abroad students, however, students wishing to take one or more science classes must enroll for an entire academic year.

Location

The city of Canterbury is one of the UK's most beautiful and historic cities. Still surrounded by its original Roman walls, Canterbury is home to traditional cobbled streets and many medieval buildings of great historical significance, not least of which is Canterbury Cathedral, a World Heritage Site protected by UNESCO.

Canterbury also enjoys a wonderful location in Southeast England, between two of the world's great cities: London and Paris. London, with Heathrow and Gatwick airports, is just 56 miles away, and Paris is only two hours away by train.

Housing

Housing is guaranteed for GlobaLinks Learning Abroad students studying at the University of Kent. Students will live in study bedrooms on campus -- all of which are private, single bedrooms with wireless Internet. All students will have single bedrooms with shared living/communal areas and wireless internet. About GlobaLinks Learning Abroad Programs

GlobaLinks Learning Abroad programs are created with individual student's goals in mind. Our programs are built around a unique Discovery Model which is delivered by our amazing staff, both in the U.S. and overseas. Our Discovery Model provides every student with an individualized experience through discovery in 5 key areas: personal, academic, cultural, social, and professional. Our North American staff counsels each student through the application and enrollment process, and our on-site Resident Coordinators set up a calendar of activities for students related to each area of discovery. These activities are more than just tourist excursions, and include opportunities like networking events, local festivals, gallery openings, and other similar events that you can't find in a travel book.

GlobaLinks Learning Abroad programs include everything you would expect in a study abroad program: guaranteed housing, 24-hour in-country support, an in-country multi-day orientation program, comprehensive pre-departure services, excursions, and discovery activities to make the most out of each student's experience. Students of all majors are welcome to apply, and no prior language skill is required even for foreign-speaking destinations as some or all courses are taught in English at each university. Scholarships are available.
