Overview
The University of Economics, Prague (Vysoká škola ekonomická v Praze) is the leading university in the field of management and economics in the Czech Republic and was founded in 1919.
The Central and East European Studies Program is a self-financed extension program founded at the University of Economics, Prague (VŠE). The CESP is a one- or two-semester program focusing on issues of Central and East European economies, societies and cultures. Its main goal is to review the past and investigate the present and future of developing economies, societies, politics, and languages of these countries.
Academic Highlights
The CESP program offers total of 12 courses which are worth 3 U.S. credits or 7 ECTS each, and are taught completely in English. Students will take at least three courses; the maximum of registered courses is five. Each course is 4 teaching hours per week. Each semester consists of 13 course weeks.
Please check the GlobaLinks Learning Abroad website for updated class options.
Location
The Czech Republic is a region rich in history and culture. Situated in the center of Europe, or as Czechs proudly say "in the heart of Europe," it is a bridge between East and West, both geographically and culturally.
The university itself is located in the center of Prague, the capital of Czech Republic, within a couple minutes walk from historical monuments, medieval churches and other sites soaked with history. Prague indeed is a popular city in the eastern European region that combines a long and rich history with rapid industrial growth and a modern city life.
Housing
Accommodation for CESP students is provided in the student dormitory about 15 minutes by tram from campus. The two modern four-story buildings were completely reconstructed in 2008. The residence hall is comprised of double-bed rooms which are located in three-room flat units. Each flat unit consists of a kitchen and bathroom. There is a connection to the university computer network for every student. A high-speed internet connection enables communication with parents and friends at home.
About GlobaLinks Learning Abroad Programs
GlobaLinks Learning Abroad programs are created with individual student's goals in mind. Our programs are built around a unique Discovery Model which is delivered by our amazing staff, both in the U.S. and overseas. Our Discovery Model provides every student with an individualized experience through discovery in 5 key areas: personal, academic, cultural, social, and professional. Our North American staff counsels each student through the application and enrollment process, and our on-site Resident Coordinators set up a calendar of activities for students related to each area of discovery. These activities are more than just tourist excursions, and include opportunities like networking events, local festivals, gallery openings, and other similar events that you can't find in a travel book.
GlobaLinks Learning Abroad programs include everything you would expect in a study abroad program: guaranteed housing, 24-hour in-country support, an in-country multi-day orientation program, comprehensive pre-departure services, excursions, and discovery activities to make the most out of each student's experience. Students of all majors are welcome to apply, and no prior language skill is required even for foreign-speaking destinations as some or all courses are taught in English at each university. Scholarships are available.
