AUT University
Overview
AUT University is New Zealand's most contemporary university, with a unique profile reflecting innovative approaches to teaching, learning, and research. This is a university that is outward-looking, developing, and adapting to the social, economic, and technological realities which shape the world today. As a result AUT students are responsive to the needs of the modern, fast-changing, and multi-skilled work place.
AUT understands the importance of building international relationships, and it places a high value on the contribution that international students make to university life. Students from over 84 countries study at AUT, and they enjoy an inclusive learning environment – one which supports a diversity of people, cultures, and ideas.
Location
AUT has two well-positioned campuses – City Campus in the centre of Auckland, and North Shore Campus across the Auckland Harbour Bridge. Auckland is New Zealand's largest and most cosmopolitan city with a population of 1.4 million. The temperate climate encourages an outdoor lifestyle, and there is easy access to surf beaches, ski fields, and mountains.
Academic Highlights
Along with most common areas of study, AUT also offers many unique academc options. These include creative writing, education (early childhood, Montessori, Steiner), criminology, hospitality and tourism studies, ebusiness, advertising creativity, public relations, creative industries, journalism, digital media, radio, television, art and design, engineering, health sciences, applied sciences, and Mäori studies.
Students are encouraged to take classes from Te Ara Poutama to gain an understanding of New Zealand Culture. Courses such as "Te Ara Pou – Leadership" and "Introduction to Maori Society" are favorites for study abroad students.
Guaranteed Housing

About GlobaLinks Learning Abroad Programs
GlobaLinks Learning Abroad programs are created with individual student's goals in mind. Our programs are built around a unique Discovery Model which is delivered by our amazing staff, both in the U.S. and overseas. Our Discovery Model provides every student with an individualized experience through discovery in 5 key areas: personal, academic, cultural, social, and professional. Our North American staff counsels each student through the application and enrollment process, and our on-site Resident Coordinators set up a calendar of activities for students related to each area of discovery. These activities are more than just tourist excursions, and include opportunities like networking events, local festivals, gallery openings, and other similar events that you can't find in a travel book.
GlobaLinks Learning Abroad programs include everything you would expect in a study abroad program: guaranteed housing, 24-hour in-country support, an in-country multi-day orientation program, comprehensive pre-departure services, excursions, and discovery activities to make the most out of each student's experience. Students of all majors are welcome to apply and scholarships are available.
In addition to our multi-day Bridging Cultures Orientation Program, GlobaLinks Learning Abroad includes excursions in our Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji semester/year abroad programs. Each participant can choose one of the following four exciting excursions: Legian Beach in Bali, Queenstown and Milford sound in New Zealand, a Fiji island resort, or the Whitsundays in Australia! All tour costs are included, and all you have to do is get yourself to the departure point.
