Program Description:
GlobaLinks Learning Abroad Custom Date Internships in Hong Kong
Internships are designed for an individual looking to learn new skills and gain practical knowledge in their field of study in order to facilitate career development. Our unpaid internships provide greater professional experience than many domestic opportunities because companies are smaller, thus interns are exposed to a wider variety of job duties. Living in a foreign country immersed in a new culture even further strengthens your resume by providing you with skills such as adaptability, problem solving, independence, cross-cultural communication, and critical thinking. We custom build internships to meet participants' needs and bring our experience to ensure a great internship experience.
The experience of interning abroad lends a real-world understanding of countries rich in culture, which cannot be achieved through travel and study alone. This real-world program requires a great deal of independence as well as an ability to solve real-world challenges. Much of your time abroad may be spent apart from other North Americans and young people. You will be expected to leave the campus life behind in order to enter fully into the workplace atmosphere and achieve your professional goals. Internship placements are chosen based upon the best match for your learning objectives as well as the ability for the site to provide a quality internship experience.
About Custom Date Internships
Custom Date Internship placements are flexible opportunities for independent interns who are unable to participate in the 6 or 10 week program for any one of the following reasons:
You do not meet the minimum eligibility requirements.
You cannot attend the program during the pre-set dates.
You need an internship of a duration other than 6 or 10 weeks.
Custom Date Internships are available in most every field of study. These one-of-a-kind placements can accommodate a variety of start and end dates and program lengths. In the required cover letter, you should detail the type of internship you are seeking and your desired start and end dates.
In general, it is possible to start an Custom Date Internship at any time, however, applications must be completed at least four months prior to the desired internship start date. We will try to match up these dates as closely as possible, but we suggest that you have some flexibility. Program fees vary with the actual finalized program length. Because program dates are customized for each applicant, you will be participating individually and not as a group. Therefore, we advise that this program is for a very independent person. While we are always available if you experience any serious problems, it is important you prepare yourself to experience real world challenges and know that you will be apart from your usual surroundings.
Most aspects of the Custom Date Internship placements are the same as the 6 and 10 week placements. For instance, internship placements, housing, on-site support services, and pre-departure services are similar across all types of programs.
Custom Date Internship Placements do not carry credit from Chapman University. However, you can often arrange credit with your home university. You will want to speak with advisors at your home university about the processes and requirements, and we will take care of administering any assessments. Prior to departure you will be required to provide the details on your assessment needs.

About GlobaLinks Learning Abroad Programs
GlobaLinks Learning Abroad programs are created with individual student's goals in mind. Our programs are built around a unique Discovery Model which is delivered by our amazing staff, both in the U.S. and overseas. Our Discovery Model provides every student with an individualized experience through discovery in 5 key areas: personal, academic, cultural, social, and professional. Our North American staff counsels each student through the application and enrollment process, and our on-site Resident Coordinators set up a calendar of activities for students related to each area of discovery. These activities are more than just tourist excursions, and include opportunities like networking events, local festivals, gallery openings, and other similar events that you can't find in a travel book.
